Obituary for Carol E. Covington

Carol E. Covington
Carol E. Covington, 54, of Ridgewood, NY passed away Friday, November 25th at Riverview Medical Center after a courageous battle against cancer.

Carol grew up in Colts Neck Township, NJ and graduated from University of Maine in 1984 with a B.A. in English.

A few years after college, Carol turned her love of knitting, a skill she learned from her mother, into a new career path. She created a portfolio of sweater designs that were published in Vogue and other knitting magazines. Having become established as a sweater and knitwear designer, Carol was able to break into the fashion industry by joining Ralph Lauren Corporation. At the time her illness forced her to take a leave of absence, she was a Vice President of Design at Lauren Ralph Lauren.

Carol was a sensitive and generous woman with a love of family and animals. She also found great joy in being in the out of doors. She enjoyed the sport of dressage, especially on her beloved horse, Milo. Now that Milo is retired, Carol was very proud that Milo is participating as a therapy horse in the HoofPrintsontheHeart.org program in Millstone Twp., NJ.

Surviving is her husband Michael Nellini; her father William O. Covington, Jr.; her mother Katharine Covington; her sister & brother-in-law Diane & Prakash Santhana; her brother & sister-in-law Mark & Susan Covington; and her nieces & nephew Kyra Santhana and Zoe & Benjamin Covington.

A memorial service and celebration of Carol’s life will take place in New York City in the new year. To share a favorite memory or messages of condolence, please visit Carol’s Book of Memories at www.holmdelfuneralhome.com.
